Summer Camp 2024

by Lutfia Gnime, summer camp co-director

This year we opened our camp despite all the fears of the war, it was important for us to tell the world that we will continue to believe in our way, the way of peace and tolerance.

The camp began July 1st and ended 21st of July 2024.
The camp was held at the English Center in Ramla where it took place for the past 3 years thanks to the generosity of the Ramle municipality.

This year, 88 boys and girls joined our camp, most of them from the city of Ramla, and the rest from Lod and Neve Shalom.

Due to the security situation and the war, only Arab students joined the camp, in the hope that the situation will calm down and we will return to holding bi-national camps.

Our campers are aged 9 to 13, most of them returned to us from previous years and some of them heard about the special camp and decided to join.
The campers were divided into 3 groups according to age, and each group had two instructors, one Jewish and one Arab and in addition we had our volunteers, who were former campers.

As always, the camp program was rich and varied.
The program included trips to various attractions such as a horse farm, Cinema City, Water Park..
We also had indoor days with various workshops and activity stations in various fields such as: thinking games, photography, virtual reality glasses, painting, graffiti, juggling, dancing, cooking..

The campers enjoyed themselves very much, and happily arrived at the camp.

On the last day of the camp, we met with the parents for the evening of the end of the camp at the Open House in Ramla. We received the parents and the campers with great joy.

The campers presented dance performances that they had prepared, and then we gave the volunteers and instructors a certificate of appreciation for their dedicated work with the campers.
And then, we watched a video that summarizes our camp. There was great excitement for the campers to see themselves in action and share with their parents what they did.
Finally, the parents and campers were treated to various delicacies.

We hope that our special camp, which aims to unite Arab and Jewish campers, will continue to grow and connect both sides.
